Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) are professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. They conduct sport-specific testing sessions, design and implement safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs and provide guidance regarding nutrition and injury prevention. Recognizing that their area of expertise is separate and distinct, CSCS's consult with and refer athletes to other professionals when appropriate. To be eligible to take the CSCS examination, candidates must hold a bachelor's degree or currently be enrolled as a college senior from an institution that is accredited by one of the six regional accrediting associations.


The ACSM Certified Exercise PhysiologistSM (EP-C) is a health fitness professional with a minimum of a bachelor's degree in exercise science. The individual performs pre-participation health screenings, conducts physical fitness assessments, interprets results, develops exercise prescriptions, and applies behavioral and motivational strategies to apparently healthy individuals and individuals with medically controlled diseases and health conditions to support clients in adopting and maintaining healthy lifestyle behaviors. Academic preparation for an EP-C also includes fitness management, administration, and supervision.

Individuals with this certification are typically employed or self-employed in commercial, community, studio, corporate, university, and hospital settings. They take personal training to an advanced level by working with individuals with medically controlled diseases, and have mastered the necessary skills to perform pre-exercise health risk assessments and conduct physical fitness assessments. They may also focus on other health tasks to support clients in adopting and maintaining healthy lifestyle behaviors.

The ACE® Personal Trainer Certification is designed for fitness trainers providing one-on-one or small-group fitness instruction.

Upon successful completion of the ACE Certified Medical Exercise Specialist (CMES) Exam, you will have demonstrated the ability to apply your knowledge of:

   * Psychological aspects of working with clients with health challenges
   * Biomechanical and physiological impact of many diseases, disorders and ailments
   * Exercise programming and progression related to:
         * Major cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases and disorders
         * Metabolic diseases and disorders
         * Musculoskeletal disorders
         * Older adults, youth, and pre-and post-natal clients.

I started my career as a Physical Therapist Assistant, after a life-altering automobile accident. I withdrew from college, rehabbed for long time before starting down a new path. I have been working in the fitness industry since graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Studies in 1993. My personal training business was built by hosting numerous community lectures and workshops and just being involved in the community. I pride myself on my personalized, hands-on approach to working with my clients. Watching improvements over time is an amazing feeling; to know I am making a difference in someone's life is truly rewarding.

Fortify Your Frame was originally created out of frustration and concern for individuals with chronic back pain and other medical concerns. Many doctors tell their patients to exercise, but offer no direction in the "what type" and "how to" exercise. Rightfully so, as many physicians are not exercise specialists and may not have, or know the correct answers.  I have your answers. I am your exercise expert.  Fortify Your Frame is your exercise option. The philosophy is simple, stability before mobility - start with success and progress from there.

In 2013, this seminar has been recorded for home CEU study.

~~  Exciting News  ~~

It is with great pride and honor that my son, Daniel, had been selected for the
Karate Delegation for the 19th Maccabiah Games in Israel July 2013.

Despite asthma and rare bone disorder called Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone disease); Daniel worked hard and came in 4th overall in Kata (forms).
He did not compete in Kumite (sparring).
